Night 1

We have recently started the "big girl bed" switch and we were running into some major snags. Wouldn't go to sleep with out Ted or I in there with her, up 3-4 times throughout the night, and waking at the BUTT CRACK of dawn - which is SO not our daughter. So nights are exhausting and days are even more difficult as she is beyond tired and grumpy. After talking with Kori and Nikki yesterday I decided the only way to overcome our night time issues was to let her start crying it out. We had dinner plans with my small group bible study last night so Teagan stayed home with a babysitter. I told her not to worry about putting her to sleep - that we would try and be home as soon as we could. After dinner Ted and I ran to the store and purchased a child lock for the outside of her bedroom door. When we got home Ted installed the lock and we began her bedtime routine. When we were getting to the last book I left Ted on his own knowing that I would be too emotional after the day we had had. So I ventured to the kitchen, got a bowl of starbucks java chip ice cream, crawled into bed (video monitor on - sound off... so I could see, not hear) and began watching the bachelorette. Ted explained that he was leaving, that we loved her, and that she could not come out of her room.

Then the crying began... on the screen you can see her gather her blankets and jump out of bed... then you hear the door rattle... she realizes "crap, i think i'm seriously stuck in here.... then the screaming begins. I can see in the monitor that she had turned the lights on, but I couldn't see where she was or what she was doing. SHOCKINGLY enough, the crying was off and on (with an occasional beating on the door) for only 20 min. When it stopped the lights were still on and her bed was still empty... so we waited a good while and then like two overly obsessed parents we tip toed to the hallway, crawled down the hall, and peaked under the door. Ted unlocked the door and for a minute had me panicked as he couldn't find her... then we saw this.

Now, I know I am 34 weeks pregnant, tired and overly emotional. But this just made me sob! For several reasons. #1 ~ because she looks so big. #2 ~ Because I know that in her anger she gathered her blankets and thought "I am just gonna sit here until they come get me". #3 ~ Because I was so happy that this all happened in 20 min as opposed to 2 hours. #4~ Cause she is just so dang precious. So Ted lifted her into bed - she never made a peep. At 6am she woke up, went to the door, realized it was locked and never made a peep. 3 hours later she is still sleeping in her room. I KNEW that this little girl needed more sleep than she was getting... Thanks Nikki and Kori for convincing me it is ok to show a little tough love and lock the door. For all you that are freaking out that we tried this approach the door is now unlocked and open so that when she wakes up she can come running out. :)

Now we will see how nap time goes...

Give me a break...

It's only been three months. And it's not like I haven't had anything going on... Growing a baby is hard, time consuming, and exhausting work! But here I sit at 2:19am WIDE AWAKE so I thought I would give it a shot. I was so surprised when I got on here and noticed that they had made changes and now it is a speedy process to upload pictures! Maybe this will be the push I needed to be more regular with this blogging thing.

Also, I am aware that...

- the pictures in my header looks NOTHING like my child anymore ~ almost a year old
- the pictures on the side are ultrasounds of Teagan ~ 2 years old
- and Bauer is about 70lb heavier ~ about 2.5 years old

I will work on re-vamping all of that the next time I can't sleep because of some annoying pregnancy ailment.

Oreo's and Milk.

Ted decided it was time to introduce Teagan to one of his favorite snacks. It was hilarious watching her... and by the end the table was covered in milk. Note the last photo - this was the response I got when I told her no more cookies.

Day at the pool.

During the summer our weekends are typically spent out at Ted's parents house - normally there are several of us there but on this particular day the entire family made it out. Teagan always has SO much fun playing with Brooklyn and Lilly. I love these pictures because you can see alot of her personality in each one.

Loving on my cousin Brooklyn! These two are SO affectionate with each other - we have gotten to the point where we make the girls ask "permission" for a hug or kiss because every once in awhile one of them will get overwhelmed by the other.

Big move!

After MUCH apprehension on my part we finally made the decision to move Teagan into her "big girl room". We really wanted her to be well adjusted before the baby arrives so that she didn't feel like she was being "kicked-out" of her room. She was SO excited about it and has done really well so far! She hasn't climbed out once. Hopefully it will continue to be a smooth transition. Here are a few photo's of the room - Ted did an awesome job on our diamond wall but the pictures would not turn out. I'll try when the lighting is better.

The picture below is the one that totally convinced me it was a boy.
However, the doctor assured me that it was an umbilical cord that I was seeing between the legs... not a penis. I still say boy though. :)

We had our 20 week ultrasound today and it went fabulous! This was the first ultrasound that we have had (for all 3 pregnancies) where there were NO concerns... so that was such a good feeling! We did find out that my placenta is in front of the baby, which they think is probably why we are not feeling it move. It was a relief to see how active he/she really is though!

Tart cherries.

Tart cherries from our local produce mart are one of Miss. T's favorite snacks!! I was just getting ready to put her in bed when she came to me holding the tub of them pleading for a quick bedtime snack. I couldn't resist. And I even managed to snatch a few photos. I am getting better at this!

Elmo!

Today we took Teagan, along with Sarah, Roger & Brooklyn and Ted's parents to see Elmo. Brooklyn is obsessed with Elmo, so she loved every second of it. Teagan did pretty well too...but had to get up a few times to run around. It was so much fun seeing her expression at all the life size characters, lights, and music. When the first song started Ted and I were just dying at the little girls expressions. It was totally worth it just for that very first song. Here are some pictures of the day.

Easter

We had a great Easter! After church we went to Ted's family gathering. Teagan had so much fun on her first egg hunt. I was surprised at how quick she caught onto the concept! It was so fun to see the 3 little girls together all dolled up in their dresses. They are going to have so much fun growing up together!
